Almost every creator underestimates how few people saw their best video. Even a well-performing Reel reaches a minority of your own followers, and none of the people who found you afterwards.
Making something new every time is the most expensive way to fill a calendar. The cheapest is to work the material you already have.
Seven ways to get more from one video
- Change the hook and repost. Same body, different opening line — often a completely different result.
- Split a long explainer into its individual points, one video each.
- Turn the comments into videos. Every good question under a post is a script.
- Update it. 'This changed in 2026' is a legitimately new video with most of the work already done.
- Flip the angle. A 'how to do X' becomes 'the mistake people make with X'.
- Change the format. An explainer becomes a myth-versus-fact; a list becomes a story.
- Translate register, not language — a video for shop owners rewritten for customers reaches an entirely different audience.
How long to wait
For an identical repost, leave it at least two to three months. For a version with a new hook or a new angle, three to four weeks is fine — it is a different video as far as most viewers are concerned.
Reposting the same clip weekly is the one version of this that does annoy people, and it is the only one worth avoiding.
Keep the scripts, not just the videos
The reusable asset is the text, not the finished file. A script can be re-hooked, re-cut, updated and re-voiced in minutes; a rendered video can only be reposted as-is.
Keep every script in one place. After six months that file is worth more than the videos, because everything in it can be regenerated in a new voice, a new tone or a new format without starting again.
